Agroecology Overview

The Agroecology program is ideal for students who are interested in understanding, developing and managing agricultural systems that apply environmental and ecological perspectives.

The Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree in Agroecology is one of the 6 undergraduate fields of study offered within the Division of Plant and Soil Sciences. Agroecology is an interdisciplinary study of how the production of plants and animals interacts with the local environment. It also emphasizes sustainable and environmentally-friendly approaches to agricultural production. The Agroecology program in the Davis College teaches students to combine ecological concepts with crop production to balance sustainable production and the environment. Our faculty are nationally known for their work in soil science, pest management, and crop and livestock production as these relate to environmental protection and land use.
